AP Learning’s Philosophy
I believe that all learning—whether in academic, healthcare, or corporate environments—shares the same essence: Supporting learners’ success and Fostering confidence by building it where needed and enhancing it where possible.
Knowledge retention and skill transfer are important goals, but I see them as tools to serve this deeper purpose.
Whenever I face uncertainty, I return to this core: enabling learner success and confidence through thoughtful, learner-centred design.
Renee Sakai – Instructional Designer

After serving as an Early Childhood Educator (ECE), where I gained practical experience in special needs education, diverse learner understanding, and inclusive teaching practices, I earned a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree. Since 2020, I have transitioned to work as an Instructional Designer, focusing on the development and design of e-learning and corporate training programs.
My approach incorporates the ADDIE model and learner-centred design principles to deliver learning experiences that are both easily understandable and highly accessible. I specialize in creating inclusive content that complies with the AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), ensuring all learners have access to an optimal learning environment.
As a fully bilingual professional (English and Japanese), I also specialize in material localization, allowing me to adapt flexibly to multicultural environments and address global learning needs. I partner with subject matter experts and stakeholders to establish needs-based learning objectives and consistently deliver content that drives measurable results.
